What you'll do

In this key role, you’ll define, document and maintain clear enterprise standards that guide colleagues across the Group. We’ll look to you to establish robust governance mechanisms to monitor adherence to enterprise standards across the operating system and the bank.

You’ll also oversee compliance with established operating system standards and practices, fostering a culture of performance discipline and accountability across all business areas. In addition, you’ll develop clear mechanisms for addressing non-adherence to standards, driving clear accountability and continuous improvement.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Monitor and assess performance against defined standards, providing transparent reporting to senior leadership
  • Develop a compliance framework for operating system standards and practices, ensuring accountability at all levels
  • Ensure alignment between customer teams and supporting teams to deliver seamless, customer-focused high-performance outcomes
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in operating system processes, standards, and interactions to enhance overall operating system efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, ensuring alignment on operating system priorities, standards, and performance expectations

The skills you'll need

We’re on the lookout for someone with a deep understanding of operational risk frameworks, controls, and governance structures within a large, complex organisation. You’ll bring a strong track record of leading large-scale transformation programmes, including cultural, structural, and process change across multiple business areas.

With proven experience in embedding and enforcing enterprise standards across systems, processes, and ways of working to ensure consistency and compliance, you’ll have the ability to design and monitor frameworks that hold teams accountable for adhering to operating principles, with clear mechanisms for addressing non-compliance and reinforcing desired behaviours.

You’ll also have:

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to operational risk in financial services
  • The ability to collaborate and influence across senior leadership teams, including ExCo and other stakeholders
  • Proficiency in using data to inform strategic decisions and monitor ongoing risks
  • The ability to leverage data analytics and reporting tools to gain insights into performance, risk trends, and control effectiveness
