School Business Manager

Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking School Business Manager to play a leading role of a Primary School in Blyth.

The School Business Manager is the school's leading support staff professional who assists the Head Teacher in their duty to ensure that the school meets its educational aims. The Business Manager will advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the school to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows members of the leadership team and governors to focus on teaching and learning.

They are responsible for ensuring all financial and non-teaching aspects of the school run efficiently and effectively. Whilst a School Business Management Qualification is advantageous, the role would also suit an experienced Teacher or Support Staff professional who has experience of Leadership within School.

This role will involve:
  • Report to the headteacher, governors, and local authority and government departments
  • To lead with the Head Teacher on finance, estates management, whole-school administration and health and safety.
  • Recruit, train and manage school support staff
  • Produce timely and fully costed proposals for school improvement and development, ensuring they are sustainable through long-term financial plans.
  • Order goods and services and pay suppliers and contractors
  • Keeping accounts and records up to date for inspection
  • Oversee the maintenance of school buildings
  • Plan for and implement new initiatives as appropriate for the school.
Requirements:
  • Ideally, a school business management qualification eg the level 4 diploma in school business management or above (formerly known as CSBM)
  • Experience as a School Leader, either in a Teaching sense or as a member of Support Staff.
  • Recent training on GDPR
  • Successful leadership and management experience in a school, or in a relevant field outside education
  • Contributing to staff development
  • Expert knowledge of financial management
  • Commitment to promoting the ethos and values of the school and getting the best outcomes for all pupils
