Primary Teacher

Wildern Secondary School is a large secondary school in Hedge End, Southampton and we are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, creative Primary Teacher join our Additional Support department. We are part of the RAISE Education Trust which comprises of Wildern School, Deer Park Secondary School and Boorley Park Primary School.

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated primary teacher to join our dynamic team in a unique role within our secondary school. This exciting position involves working closely with students in KS3 who require additional support with their literacy and numeracy skills.

This could be in a 1:1, small group or small class capacity. The successful candidate will have experience in primary education and a passion for fostering a love of learning in young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in literacy and numeracy to small groups of students.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Creating a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Collaborating with secondary teachers to ensure a smooth transition for students and consistent learning approaches.
  • Communicating effectively with parents/carers regarding student progress.
  • Contributing to the wider school community.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in primary schools (Key Stage 2)
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly in literacy and numeracy
  • Confidence to plan and deliver an adapted curriculum across a range of subjects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for working with young people and a commitment to their success

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs
  • Knowledge of effective intervention strategies
  • Experience in supporting KS2-3 transition
