We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) to join our dynamic team on the Cardiology Ward 2a Wycombe General Hospital
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clinical teams in the delivery of exceptional care to patients with cardiovascular conditions. You will work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring the comfort, safety, and wellbeing of patients during their time on the ward.
About You:
- Experience in a healthcare environment, ideally within a hospital setting.
- A genuine interest in working in cardiology or with patients with heart conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic team.
- A caring and compassionate attitude towards patients.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
- An understanding of basic life support or willingness to undergo training
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in delivering patient care under the supervision of registered nurses.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team.
- Support patients with daily activities such as washing, dressing, and eating.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring infection control measures are followed.
- Provide emotional and practical support to patients and their families.
- Assist with the administration of medications as directed by nursing staff.
- Record patient information accurately and assist in maintaining patient records.
- Ensure patient dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Desirable criteria- Care Certificate in healthcare (Level 3)
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria- Understands nature of the HCSW role and responsibilities
- Previous experience in a health care setting
- Evidence of working as a member of a team
- Experience in a customer focused environment
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria- Ability to communicate in English clearly and concisely with patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team
- Understands concept of Confidentiality and standards of conduct and care
- Willingness to undertake the Health and Social Care level 3 apprenticeship
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Essential criteria- Work shift patterns designed to meet service needs.
PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
