Role Purpose: To learn and develop engineering skills

through practical work experience to

support the business and its needs.

Main Duties:
  • Apprentice multi-skilled maintenance engineer to work alongside experienced/skilled engineers on a day-to-day basis.
  • Report to Engineering manager.
  • Will be involved in day-to-day project works/Preventative maintenance/breakdowns/continuous improvement.
  • Work along side technical team to learn functions of all machines.
  • Mechanical basics (drilling, tapping, dies, files, measurements, bearings, ultrasonic welders, pneumatic cylinders, gearbox's, etc..)
  • Use of machinery in workshop (surface grinder, lathe, miller, pillar drill, grinder, pedestal grinder, hydraulic press)
  • Reading and understanding various electrical schematic drawings we use (Spuhl,LPT,Koch,friggerio)
  • Understanding of different types of circuits and components (3-phase, single phase, 24v).
Qualifications & Skills:
  • GCSE’s or equivalent
  • Willingness to working towards a recognised apprenticeship standard
  • Ability to prioritise workload.

Working week: 39 Hours per week, Mon-Thurs 6-2pm, Fri-6-1pm
Training: Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley

College or your place of work. Student to complete a Maintenance and Engineering Operations Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.
