This is a NEW and exciting opportunity to come and join Salford Community Stroke and Neuro Team as a part time highly specialist B7 Dietitian.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to steer and develop the Dietetic service in the team, alongside our strong senior leadership team. We are a hugely supportive team and place great emphasis on staff wellbeing to enable you to be at your best in work.

We are a wide MDT comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapist, Dietitian, Nurses, Psychologists, Therapy Instructors/ Senior Assistants, Social Work, Assistant Practitioners and expert Administrative support.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated, dedicated and innovative individual to join our specialist service . You will have an extensive and varied background of neurology experience, ideally in Acute and Community, and Stroke and Neuro.

We are looking for:

  • Experience mainly in Stroke and Neurorehab in community setting but ideally with some Acute exposure
  • Good level of post graduate training in area of speciality
  • Supervision of registered Dietitians and support workforce experience
  • Established experience of providing rich student placements as Clinical Educator
  • Contribute to team development in own profession and wider MDT.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Highly effective communication
  • Successful team player
  • Ability to demonstrate drive and initiative
  • Experience of service improvement projects
  • Experience of audit and Quality Improvement methodology
  • IT skills applicable to the role
  • Ability to cover the geographical footprint in Salford (this does not include public transport

Person specification

Qualification and registration

Essential criteria
  • BSc. or MSc. in Nutrition and Dietetics Or BSc. in relevant science followed by Post Graduate Diploma or State Registration in Dietetic
  • HCPC registered

Knowledge, training and experience

Essential criteria
  • A high level of post graduate training in area of speciality
  • Experience of working in community setting in area of speciality
  • A high level of experience of working with Stroke patients
  • A high level of experience of working with Neuro patients
  • Extensive experience working in complex healthcare systems
Desirable criteria
  • Masters module
  • Experience of working in acute setting in area of speciality

Supervision of staff and students

Essential criteria
  • A good level of experience in supervising registered Dietitians
  • Experience of supervising support workforce e.g. assistants / Assistant Practitioners
  • Experience of being Clinical Educator for students for the whole placement
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising registered professions outside of Dietetics

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications e.g. Outlook, Word, Note, Excel
  • Experience of healthcare data systems e.g. EPR, PAS etc

Ability to cover the geographical footprint

Essential criteria
  • Ability to cover the geographical footprint - have UK license and car (not public transport)

Service development

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of involvement on service improvement projects
  • Evidence of audit
  • Evidence of utilising QI / improvement methodology
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of leading on service improvement project
  • Leading on QI project
