Job overview

The Limes College Taskforce - An Exciting Fixed Term Project
Do you want to be part of a new, dynamic team?

The Limes College is a shining example of an Alternative Provision which works in a holistic and truly Multi-Agency way. It has consistently led the way in its innovative delivery of education and support of vulnerable young people in the London Borough of Sutton.

We work very closely with our Mainstream Schools and partnership agencies to ensure the children, young people and families we work with can access the help and support they need to access the pathways to qualifications, jobs, healthy relationships and lives.

For some children this is a return to mainstream school after a permanent exclusion, for others it is support into a specialist school, whichever prepares them better for their next steps towards adult life. We also do a wide range of in and out reach in the Borough and run a variety of projects which are aimed at supporting children vulnerable to permanent exclusion.

We aim to extend the project into our permanent offer to the local area, based on the National AP Taskforce pilot run by the Df E. We are looking to recruit dynamic, skilled, motivated staff to join our team working with children who are both at Limes College and also out in our Mainstream Schools.

The Taskforce will be made up of a team of professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, Mental Health Specialists, Educational Psychology, SENCO, Post 16 Transition Coach, DSL, Family Worker and Youth (justice) Worker.

The aims of the project are:

  • To work with children in mainstream at risk of PEX - Reduce Permanent Exclusion
  • To reduce the risks of the most vulnerable students at the Limes – to put in intensive interventions for students at risk of or involved in CCS, CSE, Youth Violence and ASB.
  • Work with siblings and families of these children to avoid familial patterns – Early Intervention
  • Screening and Assessment of children for undiagnosed SEND making them vulnerable to PEX and contextual issues – Early Intervention for SEND
  • Medium term therapeutic intervention to support need and or mental health crises
  • Parental support - those who are losing or have lost the ability to parent or keep their children safe due to DA, MH
  • Increase attendance
  • Reduce waiting times for children/families needing a range of support
  • Lowering Youth Violence and ASB and those known to YOT

You will need to be:

  • Able to connect with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
  • Highly motivated
  • A great communicator
  • Dynamic team player
  • Be able to “think outside the box” and enjoy problem solving and be solution focused
  • Always be child centered
  • Have experience relevant to the post for which you are applying.
Youth Worker/Youth Justice Worker (NJC 6) Full time hours Term Time + INSET

  • Work in partnership with families and other key people in the young person's life, as well as with professionals from other organisations involved with young people such as social care, health, police, education, youth offending teams and local authorities, in order to build a strong support network
