Overview
As a Route Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient scheduling and optimisation of transport operations. Working with cutting-edge planning software, you will create and manage routes that minimise costs, maximise efficiency, and meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Designing, planning, and scheduling optimal routes for drivers, factoring in distance, load sizes, and costs.Utilising route planning software and tools to improve route efficiency.
Accounting for variables such as traffic, weather, and vehicle capacity to ensure smooth operations.
Keeping accurate records of routes and making adjustments as necessary.
Resolving any issues or challenges that arise during the transportation process.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local and regional transportation laws and regulations.
Coordinating with customers, clients, and drivers to provide real-time updates on transportation status and estimated arrival times, while addressing any concerns.
Continuously seeking improvements to enhance route planning efficiency.
Monitoring and managing vehicle tracking systems.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Route Planner or in a similar role.Proficiency in mapping software, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong knowledge of safety and transportation procedures.
A detail-oriented and organised approach to work.
