We are looking for a proactive, motivated, forward thinking and dynamic individual to join our Consultant team at Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. This is a Fixed Term locum post to cover a period of maternity leave. The successful candidate will be based at Royal Hampshire County Hospital and will provide cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology.
This post is advertised as a full time, 10 PA post. The successful candidate will be based primarily at our Winchester site (The Royal County Hampshire Hospital), although all staff are expected to work across sites if the need arises and sessions may well be in Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover.
There is a 1 in 9 non-resident on-call commitment providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Main duties of the job
All applicants should have completed the Labour Ward ATSM module or equivalent and areas of special interests can be accommodated following discussion. Applicants are expected to have been awarded CCT (or be within 6 months of award of CCT at the time of interview) and be on the GMC Specialist Register.

Professional Qualifications
Essential criteria- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCOG or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- On the GMC Specialist Register and holding the CCT or within 3 months of obtaining the CCT (with evidence of sound progression)
- Advanced Labour ward ATSM or equivalent
- Specialist skill in Obstetrics or Laparoscopic surgery
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria- Able to deal independently with common emergencies in general obstetrics and gynaecology
- Desire to support and promote active and safe birth
- Experience of working in the NHS for at least 1 year
- Accredited expertise in the area of declared interest
- ALSO, PROMPT or MOET instructor
- Practice evidence based medicine
Skills & Ability
Essential criteria- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and display leadership
- Evidence of Leadership and Management
Research & Teaching
Essential criteria- Experience of teaching and supervising junior medical and midwifery staff.
- Evidence of undertaking an audit, service review or guideline which improved patient care
- Formal training in teaching e.g., training the trainers course
- Experience of managing emergency drills training
- Publications in a peer reviewed journal
- Experience of giving presentations at local/regional/national level
