Consultant Child Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disabilities

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disability (ID) CAMHS, or Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in ID or Neurodiversity, as part of our comprehensive CAMHS Service in North Derbyshire.This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly, dynamic and supportive service and we are happy to consider less than full time working/job share as an alternative to the full time position described.
Participation in the on-call CAMHS Consultant rota at a frequency of 1 in 7 will be required.
We have an excellent, well established and experienced LD CAMHS team made up of ID and MH nurses, Specialist Support Workers, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology. The team is led by Dr Martha Laxton-Kane, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and has an excellent track record of delivering outstanding patient care having previously been nominated for their work.We enjoy excellent links with our key partner agencies across North Derbyshire and deliver excellent patient care, have link workers with our Special Schools and deliver a comprehensive training programme. We work closely with our wider North Derbyshire CAMHS team and have a well-integrated leadership team across the service.

Person specification
Professional Qualifications
Essential criteria- MBchB or equivalent
- CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
- Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
- Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty.
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working with young people and their families/carers
- Psychotherapy - CBT/IPT/brief intervention training
Skills
Essential criteria- Clinical supervision experience/skills
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Ability to undertake training/mentoring of clinical staff and enthusiasm for education
