We are currently seeking to recruit enthusiastic. motivated, caring and compassionate Bank Healthcare Assistants to join our Temporary Staffing Service which covers a large geographical area. This encapsulates Physical Health wards, District nursing, Acute Inpatient, Forensic, Outpatients, Community and Clinic work in a huge variety of disciplines.

Working within the trusts clinical environments will give you the opportunity to practice a full range of core skills and to gain experience in particular areas of interest. We are keen to support and develop you and encourage promotional opportunities within the service and the wider Trust, which includes development such as the Care Certificate

Main duties of the job

Led by the TSS team and supported by the Clinical Nurse Lead you will be required to deliver a high standard of care to our patients across all areas of healthcare.

You will provide support and care for service users with mental and physical health needs and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting. You will undertake assigned tasks under the general supervision of a registered nurse, including assisting in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.

You will be trained to ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.

  • To promote a positive service user experience throughout their stay through proactive listening, being responsive to issues raised and through resolving issues and concerns raised by service users with colleagues and senior members of the team.
  • To be responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards service users, carers, colleagues, and other agencies, at all times. To participate in working collaboratively with other Trust services and external agencies to provide seamless care for service users.
  • To provide service users with personal care, where and when required, and demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect, and compassion at all times.
  • To understand the importance of the relatives/carers contribution to care and conversing with the service users and their relatives/carers, establishing their needs, and assisting them as necessary. Ensuring that any entries made by the post holder in the nursing notes are current, relevant, and accurate, and the content will then be reported & counter signed by the registered nurse or relevant professional.
  • Working in partnership with the service user to access a range of activities and services to maintain their independence.
  • Promoting healthy activities and lifestyle choices.
  • To promote and support registered staff with the physical health, comfort, and wellbeing of service users, including physical observations and taking blood pressure, temperature and pulse under their guidance and supervision.
  • Empower service users by ensuring that they receive relevant information about their treatment, medication, available services, advocacy services, ward routines and safety procedures under the guidance of a registered nurse.
  • To ensure food and fluids are served to service users according to policy

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCE/GCSE (Maths and English) or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working with people with mental health problems.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written including IT literacy (MS Office).
