SEN Teaching Assistant
We need dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in Carmarthen, supporting children and young people with Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We welcome applications from individuals with previous experience in special educational needs as well as those with limited experience but a genuine passion for working in this field. The school values commitment and enthusiasm and may consider extending contracts or offering permanent positions based on performance.
Role- Location: Carmarthen
- Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract: Temporary and long-term opportunities
- Working Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
- Pay Rate: Minimum £87.90 per day
- Provide tailored support to students with Autism and SEMH needs.
- Assist with classroom activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver individualised education plans.
- Support students both one-to-one and in small group settings.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- An understanding of childcare and special educational needs.
- Some experience working with children (in any setting).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
- A willingness to undertake training, including safeguarding and behaviour management.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
- Provide two professional references.
- Free, accredited CPD courses, including safeguarding and behaviour management.
- Access to an in-house Training and Development Team.
