An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well motivated
staff nurse to join our Home Therapies team at the University hospital of North Midlands. The post holder will work alongside a team of clinical Nurse Specialists in the training and management of both Home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients and will be working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
The applicant will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and compassionate attitude. Previous experience is desirable but not essential as continuing education, support and training to develop and achieve competencies relevant to the role will be provided.
A full driving license will be required.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the Home Therapies Team, the post holder will be responsible for the management of a caseload of Home Therapy (Peritoneal dialysis and Home haemodialysis) patients. The CNS will be responsible for the education and provision of specialist training to Home Therapy patients and/or their support person both in the hospital and community setting.The CNS will to be responsible for the management of the clinical area including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. The CNS will work in close partnership with Consultants, Nurse Specialists and external agencies to ensure that all patients receive a high quality service.
The CNS will be responsible for the multidisciplinary co-ordination of Home Therapy patients by being an effective practitioner and professional role model, able to work independently and as part of a team. The CNS will participate in innovation and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the Sister / Charge Nurse.
The CNS will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.

Person specification
Skills ability & Knowledge
Essential criteria- Hold a full driving licence and have own vehicle
- Previous Renal experience
- Minimum of 12 months as a qualified nurse1
Education and qualifications
Essential criteria- NMC qualification
- Health assessment qualification
- Nurse Prescribing
