Digital, Production & Venue Support Technician - Rigging & Automation Specialism
Our 26-person team manages an extensive technical inventory valued at £8 million, providing exceptional technical support across rigging, lighting, sound, and recording services.
We are looking for skilled DPVS Technicians with a focus on Rigging & Automation to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of rigging systems, both counterweight and automated, as well as loose rigging equipment. This role is responsible for supporting the setup and operation of technical systems, aiding the DPVS team in delivering seamless client service and ensuring the safe operation of our venues and equipment.If you are experienced in rigging, organized, and passionate about working in a world-class arts environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the DPVS management team and technicians to provide high-quality rigging and technical support, prioritizing safety and effective communication across all venues.
- Rig, operate, and maintain both counterweight and automated rigging systems, as well as loose rigging equipment.
- Assist with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of other technical systems, including lighting, sound, AV, and staging equipment, as required.
- Conduct statutory testing and inspections of rigging and other equipment, including LOLER and PUWER inspections.
- Adhere to Guildhall School and City of London Health and Safety policies, actively supporting a safe working environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Demonstrable expertise in rigging and flying systems, with experience in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting counterweight and automated rigging systems.
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols relevant to technical production, including LOLER and PUWER compliance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and clients.
- A proactive approach to maintenance, compliance, and inventory management.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
- Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in a technical rigging role within theatrical or concert settings.
- Industry-specific certifications (e.g., IOSH Working Safely, LOLER Inspection, IPAF for MEWPs) or equivalent practical knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe work practices.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
