Hygiene Supervisor

Humdinger, Heckington

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 40

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:00

Pay range: £14.46

Breaks: 2 x 20 minutes PAID

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Hygiene Team (including, holiday requests, absence management/cover, overtime, Periodic reviews, recruitment, issue resolution etc.)
  • Work with the team and other departments to attain the required hygiene standard.
  • Control training matrices to make sure all staff are adequately trained to achieve all targets and are fully trained in all aspects of the role.
  • Ensuring that relevant documentation is up to date, that the correct cleaning chemicals, materials and equipment is available, that a full and up to date COSHH inventory list of hygiene chemicals is maintained.
  • All accidents / incidents are recorded, investigated and reported to the Health and Safety Manager as per site procedure.
  • Investigate non-conformances (internal & external) and ensure that corrective actions are taken and closed out within the given deadline.
  • Be actively involved in customer audits including unannounced retailer audits.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment is always maintained.

  • Implementation and review of hygiene documentation including, but not exhaustive of; CIC’s, COSHH Risk Assessments, Quality Management System documentation etc.
  • Form a solid relationship with our chemical provider and our Chemical Rep.
  • Form a solid relationship with our hygiene consignment provider.
  • Work with Group Procurement on any initiative / rationalisation of chemicals and equipment etc.
  • Oversee the hygiene of the whole factory and ensure the teams are trained and up to standard.
  • To be aware of all cleaning chemicals, their use, mixing strengths and precautions to ensure the correct titrations are used and that the correct PPE is worn, and the correct application is used to get the desired output.
  • Issue resolution with regards to hygiene concerns.
  • Ensure scheduled and unscheduled cleans are completed to a good standard and maintained/completed in real time.
  • Ensuring that titration checks including checks on self-dosing chemical units are completed and monitored.

People:

  • Coordination of the hygiene team ensuring tasks are completed effectively and to standards as per the schedules and instructions given.
  • Ensuring training and personal development is maintained and given to all Hygiene and Production staff in relation to hygiene tasks where required.
  • Motivate and drive hygiene standards to ensure these are met.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of the health and safety procedure with regards to hygiene.
  • The management of staff hours and holiday to ensure adequate cover is provided for the task in hand.
  • Cleaning as and when required to cover staff shortages.

Chemicals:

  • Making sure that people are working safely and using the correct chemicals.
  • Correct use of PPE is adhered to by all staff when carrying out hygiene duties.
  • Correct titration checks are carried out on a routine basis and completed in real time.
  • Monitoring of chemicals to ensure that the concentration and chemical type is fit for purpose.
  • Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with our Chemical and Consumable Suppliers.
  • Chemical titrations are completed fully as required and any out of specifications are reported and actioned.
  • Accompany Cleaning chemical supplier on their visits maintaining actions and records from those visits

Cleaning and Inspection:

  • Ensure cleaning activities carried out by the members of the hygiene team are inspected and verified.
  • To be aware of the correct colour coding of equipment and its specific uses to avoid cross contamination.
  • To ensure that staff facilities are maintained hygienically safe and are fit for purpose.
  • Ensure appropriate standards of housekeeping and hygiene are always maintained to minimize risk of product contamination.

Stock and budgeting:

  • Ordering of chemicals and consumables in accordance to the plan and needs of the business.
  • To control and maintain hygiene stock levels including tools, chemicals and all consumables.

Document Management:

  • To be able to design, implement hygiene procedures and records, supervise the hygiene team and efficiently implement cleaning schedules.
  • The management and maintenance of the Hygiene Management System.
  • To design, implement and manage hygiene related Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure all associated paperwork is completed as per the cleaning procedures.
  • To audit hygiene paperwork on a weekly basis to ensure compliance and where compliance is not met the cross functional team are challenged to rectify.
  • Generation and management of all CIC’s for the business, ensuring they are maintained, and new equipment is captured.

Qualifications:

  • Hygiene Experience - Essential
  • Supervisory/Leader/Management experience - Essential
  • A passion for hygiene and working to the correct procedures and processes.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills – confident in working with all aspects of Microsoft Office.
  • Confident in challenging hygiene compliance.
  • Knowledge of hygiene and the handling of chemicals.
  • Ability to priorities tasks, effective planning, attention to detail and working to deadlines.
  • Excellent people management skills with a proven ability to lead, develop, coach and mentor team members
  • Flexibility to adapt easily and re-prioritise to ensure deadlines are met.
