Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Research/Oncology nurse to work as part of the Clinical Trials Unit at the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre. Working closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team, you will be managing a portfolio of non-complex clinical trials.Recent experience in oncology/haematology is essential as are good communication, and organisational skills. The candidate will have Chemotherapy skills and knowledge or be near to being signed off as competent to deliver chemotherapy agents.
Main duties of the job
The Research Nurse is expected to support the safe conduct of research in accordance with the regulatory and legal frameworks related to the planning, recruiting and follow-up of clinical research studies.
Working as part of the research team the research nurse will be accountable for the assessment, planning, organisation and on-going care of research participants according to the study protocol.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- Educated to degree level or similar health related qualification or equivalent range of experience within the role
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Registered Nurse level 1 with current NMC registration
- Current GCP certificate
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good (standard) keyboard skills
- Ability to use Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Access)
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and use own initiative
- Evidence of good management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively
- Good report writing, a focus on accuracy and meticulous attention to detail

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Recent oncology/haematiology trial co-ordination/nursing experience
- Interest in clinical research
- Familiarity and/or previous experience of medical terminology
- Knowledge of data protection Act 1984 and caldicott priniciples
- Competent in the administration of chemotherapy or willing to be signed off competent
- Teaching experience
- Research/audit experience
- Current knowledge and experience of patient safety management and reporting processes
- Knowledge of Microsoft office applications and willingness to develop computer skills further
