Key Requirements:
Law Society admitted and Solicitor Regulatory Authority registered solicitor, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or Bar Standards Board registered barrister.Excellent ICT skills.
Ability to absorb and interpret legislation, case law and procedures, Ability to assimilate facts and present these in a coherent fashion in order to facilitate desired results. It is important to note the impact of incorrect advice and poor advocacy could be financially very significant,
An experienced civil litigation lawyer to assist our busy team with a varied caseload including property litigation, highways and general civil litigation (including debt recovery and judicial review proceedings).
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage a caseload in an area of law allocated.Respond to requests for advice, representation etc, from the council employees.
Manage all aspects of court representation as required.
Advise and/or present to courts, meetings, members at formal appeal hearings.
Assume a lead role in advising clients on specialist aspects of law and practice as required and to organise/participate in training events as appropriate and/or necessary.
Determine appeals under the Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure of the Local Government Pension Scheme and various internal appeal procedures if required.
