Duties as an HLTA:
- Delivering planned lessons to whole classes in the absence of the teacher
- Supporting pupils’ learning in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
- Assisting teachers with planning, preparation and assessment
- Creating and adapting resources to support pupils with varying needs
- Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils’ social and emotional development
- Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents
Ideal HLTA:
- Hold HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience
- Have experience delivering lessons or interventions independently
- Be confident supporting learning across a range of subjects and year groups
- Be proactive, adaptable and able to use their initiative
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills as an HLTA.
