Hospital Receptionist – Main Desk

Role summary
We are seeking to appoint a Main Desk Receptionist to work 21.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 12:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The postholder may be required to provide cross-cover between the Main Desk Reception and the Sid Watkins Main Desk Reception, as necessitated by operational requirements.
Main Responsibilities- 1. Provide reception cover, directing patients, relatives, and visitors as appropriate.
- Ensure all non-patient visitors sign in and are issued with an ID badge.
- Handle information and case note enquiries both in person and by telephone using the Patient Administration System (PAS), while adhering to confidentiality, Caldicott, and data protection guidelines.
- Support OPD Reception staff with satellite appointment outcomes, clinic reconciliation, and the recording of DNAs (Did Not Attend).
- Process patient travel expense claims in line with Trust procedures.
- Process patient Blue Badge and visitor parking requests on the system in line with Trust procedures.
- Assist with accurately inputting OPD-coded information into the Patient Administration Systems
- Update patient demographic details using registration forms.
- Review incoming mail and direct it to the appropriate departments
- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of sickness and annual leave.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- ECDL certificate or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria- Previously worked in administrative role without the need for direct supervision.
- Experience of accurate and timely data entry
- NHS Medical Records experience
- PAS Experience
