About the Role
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you'll be responsible for leading month-end processes, overseeing year-end statutory accounts, managing tax and treasury functions, and identifying opportunities for improvement across financial systems and processes.You’ll collaborate across finance teams, act as a key contact for auditors and external stakeholders, and ensure all financial practices meet statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the month-end close process and timetable delivery
- Review and improve financial accounting processes and controls
- Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and statutory year-end activities
- Oversee VAT, corporation tax, PAYE, and Gift Aid submissions
- Manage treasury functions, including donor payments and banking arrangements
- Serve as a super-user of finance systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics BC)
- Act as a liaison with auditors, HMRC, and financial institutions
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and compliance
Role-specific knowledge & skills
Essential:
- Qualified Accountant or passed finalist (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Strong financial accounting and treasury management experience
- Advanced Excel skills and solid data management abilities
- Knowledge of UK GAAP, Charity SORP, and tax regulations
- Proven year-end and audit delivery experience
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Desirable:
- Experience in systems implementation and process improvement
