An attractive opportunity has arisen for a permanent Divisional Finance Manager post at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

With the wider NHS and Trust focus on value and productivity this is an exciting time to join the ESNEFT Finance Team, with this opportunity providing ambitious finance professionals with the prospect of exposure to a wide range of issues, both strategically and operationally, whilst working as part of both a divisional multi-disciplinary and finance team.

Ideally we are looking for a CCAB qualified professional with significant experience working in large, complex organisations to join our team. You will need to demonstrate experience of working effectively in systems, with a variety of stakeholders from differing working disciplines, and with a history or good understanding of achieving enhanced value for money and enabling sound decision making.

The key objectives of the role being to;
  • Provide financial leadership and be a key contributor to a Divisional Management team
  • Develop the Divisional annual business plan, with particular focus on the financially related elements
  • Prepare consolidated monthly financial performance reports and forecasts; analysing trends and variances
  • Responsible for the day-to-day divisional financial arrangements, identifying areas of financial opportunity or risk to the Trust and Division, taking appropriate action to resolve

Main duties of the job

The role encourages working closely with operational and clinical teams providing information and advice to aid decision making, add value, and assist in the strategic leadership, transformation and efficiency of services. We work to tight deadlines and expect to be a driving force for continual review and improvement ensuring that colleagues receive good training in order to deliver a high quality service to the Trust.

This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the future success of one of the largest Trusts in East Anglia. You will be joining a forward looking finance team which works across our Ipswich, Colchester and community sites, both working on-site and from home.

This is a full time vacancy, with part time applications also being considered.   • Educated to masters level or equivalent experience
  • Management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience

  • Proven experience of working in a senior management/leadership role
  • Experience of managing and motivating a large team or teams
  • Leading changes in practice in a complex environment to improve performance/services
  • Leading complex projects
  • Responsible for a significant budget and budget setting
  • Business case development
  • Identifying and interpreting national policy and implementing required changes

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to use IT systems including Microsoft Office
  • In depth understanding of the current NHS agenda and healthcare policy including transformation and workforce
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Risk management and governance
  • Financial procedures including budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes
  • Demonstrable knowledge of service improvements and project management
  • Understanding of the relationship between providers and commissioning organisations
  • In depth understanding of change management
  • Business planning /annual planning/long term planning
