SEN Teaching Assistant with NGT Feeding Responsibilities
Location: East Ham, LondonPay Scale: £82-£97 per day
Contract: ASAP Start - Until the End of the Academic Year (Minimum)
Hours: 8:30am - 3:45pm (Monday to Friday)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. In addition to providing general classroom assistance, this role requires specialized support for a child who requires Nasogastric Tube (NGT) feeding once per day.
What is NGT Feeding?
NGT feeding is a medical procedure that involves delivering nutrition directly to the stomach through a thin, flexible tube passed through the nose and into the stomach. Full training will be provided to ensure you feel confident and competent in this responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general classroom support, assisting with teaching and learning activities.
- Support a child with NGT feeding once daily (training provided).
- Assist with interventions for Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Support literacy development using RWI (Read Write Inc.) phonics.
- Work closely with the Speech and Language Therapy team to support children's communication needs.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs.
- A willingness to learn and carry out NGT feeding with appropriate training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- NGT Feeding Experience
- Knowledge of RWI phonics.
- Experience supporting Speech and Language development.
- Previous experience in a SEND environment.
