Highly Specialist Dietitian for Intestinal Failure

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to join our gastrointestinal services dietetic team within the clinical area of intestinal failure and intestinal rehabilitation to cover a maternity leave. This post is based in the main St. George’s site in Tooting. The successful candidate will work alongside the Clinical Lead Intestinal Failure / Rehabilitation dietitian and the wider gastroenterology team.They will be a key member of the MDT and be responsible for the delivery of a highly specialised dietetic service to complex intestinal failure and rehabilitation patients. St. George’s and St. Mark’s the National Reference Centre for Intestinal Rehabilitation were designated as joint centre for West London in 2022 and it is therefore an exciting time to join the St.
George’s team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience within the field of gastrointestinal conditions and nutrition support as well as experience in effective collaboration within MDTs. The ability to prioritise and adapt within a fast-paced clinical environment, work as a team and provide excellent patient centered care is essential to this role.The post holder will have the opportunity to be involved in audit and contribute to the teaching program across the trust. Experience in clinical audit and quality improvement is desirable.

The wider dietetic department at St George’s NHS Foundation trust consists of over 60 dietitians, who provide clinical inpatient and outpatient services to a variety of specialties including cancer services, renal, neurology, haematology, paediatrics, cardiology, major trauma, gastro, surgery and diabetes.The department is committed to training and education including and actively participates in the training programs of clinical and non-clinical staff. Qualifications
Essential criteria- BSc / Post graduate diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
- HCPC current registration
- Postgraduate training in speciality clinical area
- Membership of BDA and relevant specialist group
Experience
Essential criteria- Postgraduate experience of working in acute and/or community dietetic services at a specialist level
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Experience in teaching and education to patient groups and healthcare professionals in relevant clinical area
- Significant clinical experience of working in intestinal failure or parenteral Nutrition
Skills
Essential criteria- Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of dietetics within the NHS
- Working at Masters level or equivalent in speciality area
- Post graduate training in Intestinal Failure / Intestinal Rehabilitation
