Our school is set in a beautiful semi-rural location with four acres of well maintained grounds. We are a day school with six associated Children's Homes specialising in the education and care of children and young people between the age of 4 and 19 years who are diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum with associated learning difficulties.
Our children and young people may also exhibit challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and lack of social understanding. We offer a free minibus service from Basingstoke to the school (and return) for all staff.
The role of the Therapy Assistant is to work within the Therapy Team across all disciplines to support our learners to achieve their outcomes in line with their ECHP. Duties will include:
Assisting trained clinicians with the preparation, planning and delivery of group and one-to-one occupational therapeutic and recreational activities
Observing recording and reporting to the assigned clinician as appropriate
Creating appealing visual resources for sessions
Managing a caseload of students
planning, running, and recording 1:1 and group therapy sessions across various therapies
Assists with the assessment and transition of new learners ensuring they are familiar with the environment
Creation of initial supporting documentation such as Individual Placement Plans and Provision Maps
Ensures the effective, timely and accurate updating of clinical records, case files and computerised information systems as directed while responding to routine enquiries and standard requests for information in accordance with policies and procedures
IT Skills such as word and excel to contribute to surveys, the collection, analysis and presentation of data and information as directed
To collate the agenda for and take notes from the weekly therapy meeting
