An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner within the Highway Development Management Team at Leicestershire County Council.
About the Role
As a Transport Planner within the Highway Development Management team, your responsibilities would include (but not be limited to):
- Providing effective transport assessment in relation to the highways impact of planning applications submitted to Local Planning Authorities and pre-application enquiries.
- Providing input on strategic masterplan sites, outline/full/hybrid/reserved matters planning applications and planning appeals as necessary;
- Providing effective development management input and support to the development plan process, policy making and guidance;
- Engaging in effective negotiation to secure and where necessary deliver highways and transportation mitigation for development proposals including through Section 106 discussions and identifying other funding sources as appropriate;
- Delivering effective partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies and communities; and
- To be responsible for providing technical advice to members, partners and stakeholders.
About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of highway development management or land use planning
- Effective negotiation with external organisations, such as developers
- Collaborative working with customers and key stakeholders to deliver outputs and outcomes
- Conducting packages of transport analysis or assessment work
- Excellent numerical and analysis skills to assess transport data and trends
- Be able to work to tight timescales and to agreed targets
