Adult Social Care Income and Recovery Officer - Berkshire

Are you experienced in income collection or debt recovery and keen to make a real difference to residents’ lives? We’re looking for an Income and Recovery Officer to join our Adult Social Care Client Finances team on a 4-month fixed-term basis.

This is a great opportunity to work in a supportive, customer-focused role, helping people understand their Adult Social Care charges while ensuring income is collected fairly, legally and sensitively.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting residents to understand their Adult Social Care accounts and charges
  • Delivering a high-quality service via phone, email, digital channels and face-to-face contact
  • Identifying unpaid invoices and taking appropriate recovery action
  • Negotiating affordable repayment arrangements, taking vulnerability into account
  • Preparing cases for legal action where required, in line with legislation and council policy
  • Supporting billing, invoicing and payment collection, including direct debit administration
  • Signposting customers to welfare benefits advice and financial/digital inclusion support
  • Maintaining accurate records and handling information confidentially
What we’re looking for
  • Experience in income recovery, debt collection or client finance, ideally within Adult Social Care or a local authority
  • Strong customer service skills with a calm, empathetic approach
  • Confidence handling sensitive conversations around money
  • Ability to work with policies, procedures and legislation
  • Good IT skills and experience using financial or case management systems
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and professionalism
