The Adult ADHD and ASD Service are looking to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to support the team. The post is full-time and will work across both teams.
The post holder, with appropriate supervision, will be responsible for the assessment of needs and diagnostic outcomes for adults diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. The post holder will provide evidence based specialist OT advice, support and interventions to our service users with a diagnosis of ADHD and ASD, in partnership with their partners and carers.As part of a newly developed service, there will also be opportunity to conduct assessments and deliver post-diagnostic interventions to our service users and to design and implement a post diagnostic pathway in partnership to meet their needs.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the Service Manager be accountable and responsible for a defined clinical caseload of ADHD and ASD service users (using specialist assessment tools) and post-diagnostic intervention.
Undertake assessment of client need and signpost appropriately within local services. When required contribute a vocational specific and skills assessment in the multi professional assessment of our adult service users.
Plan, organise, administer and supervise treatment with the individual and/or group interventions in collaboration with the client following a diagnosis of ADHD and ASD.
To plan, implement and evaluate a wide range of therapeutic interventions ensuring evidence-based practice according to the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines to achieve therapeutic goals.
Demonstrate the clear and effective use of outcome measures for all clients to ensure that needs are met / maintained.

Deliver services in a sensitive, respectful and person centred way adapting systems of communication to meet service user’s cognitive ability.
To have valid professional registration and adhere to professional guidelines and standards and be committed to continuing professional development.
Keep abreast of developments in current best practice, trends, issues and research in learning disabilities and related topics in line with the divisional business plan.
To take responsibility for own continuous Professional Development and facilitate and encourage CPD for those staff for whom they are responsible.
Maintain up to date and accurate individual client records in line with Trust policy using the agreed IT systems to produce high quality reports as appropriate and to maintain the highest standard of care.
