Clinical To work throughout the radiology department on a weekly rotational basis as directed by the Superintendent Radiographer/Section Band 6 (Section Senior) radiographer in the following clinical areas: Accident and Emergency. Plain film radiography. Mobiles and theatres. General fluoroscopy procedures To carry out all diagnostic procedures to the highest possible standard in line with departmental protocols and procedures.
To promote total quality care for patients. To be responsible for clean, tidy working clinical areas and ensure all rooms are equipped ready for use. To report faults, defects and breakdown of fixtures and fittings of equipment to a Section Senior /Superintending Radiographer responsible for section or Radiology Manager.
To rotate through CT, working under direct supervision of a Section Senior /Superintending Radiographer. To rotate through special procedures room under direct supervision of Section Senior /Superintendent Radiographer. Participate in any standby/on-call/out of hours programme that is in operation or implemented in the future.
Education/Development/Training Supervise student radiographers and assistant practitioners. To participate in all Mandatory Trust training and be pro-active with personal development including the maintenance of a current CPD folder. To act as a mentor to student radiographers if required.
To participate in formative/summative assessments of students if required. Communication Maintenance of records of patient's examinations as per department protocols. To be able to maintain good working relationships with radiographers, radiologists, departmental support staff, ward and out-patient staff.
To liaise with patients and carers and have the ability to explain day to day procedures, and respond to queries about the examinations. Managerial To manage own workload on a daily basis. Clinical Governance (Policies, Complaints, H/S) To adhere to all safety regulations with regards to Health and Safety, COSHH and Ionising Radiation regulations.
