Fleet Mobility Specialist

Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and logical thinking Administrator to help drive the growth of our mobility solutions and support the continued evolution of the Road Fleet department. The Fleet Mobility Specialist is responsible for ensuring that train crew and other key team members are in the right place at the right time!

This role requires an analytically minded individual with a passion for process improvement and problem-solving, not afraid of making decisions and taking effective actions.

You will be responsible for coordinating the movement of personnel using various transport methods, overcoming logistical challenges, and continuously optimising existing processes while developing new solutions. This includes managing relationships with vehicle suppliers (leased, owned, and rented) and overseeing the providers of other essential services.

Being an area of focus that is constantly changing, an ability to engage and work closely with other teams is vital. As the mobility landscape evolves, you'll lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Future responsibilities will include the full lifecycle management of our fleet, as well as the further development of telematics systems within our vehicles.

This role can be based in Peterborough or Doncaster, the salary is up to £30k.

Responsibilities:

  • Driving the efficiency of mobility services and looking for ways to evolve and improve efficiencies in the way we and our suppliers operate:
  • Continually improve delivery of Road Fleet objectives and GBRf policy giving value to stakeholders and a positive user experience.
  • Interface with hire car, taxi and other mobility solution suppliers ensuring delivery of an efficient and timely service to our traincrew and other internal users.
  • Engage with Planning, Control and Operational teams, provide direction and support to their functions to ensure the most efficient mobility solutions are chosen for their purposes.
  • Adhere to agreed budgetary limits and looking for cost efficiencies to outperform target.
  • Maintaining detailed records of all mobility solutions, ensuring that all provision is managed effectively to minimise downtime and impact on our internal customers.
  • Develop and implement data analysis, leveraging collection systems and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Sourcing vehicles in accordance with the company’s operating procedures and policy.
  • Develop smarter reporting methods with new business technology that helps enhance the department and wider business.
  • Researching options and carrying out comparisons to source suppliers of best value vehicles, mobility provision and associated services.
  • Coordinate Leasing companies and other suppliers to ensure timely maintenance and repair to owned/leased vehicles.
  • Ability to drive change and behaviours both within the team and across the wider business.
  • Ensuring the fleet is operated in accordance with legislation, managing fines, penalties and any damage.

Qualifications:

Skills and experience
  • You must be highly resilient with proven organisational skills to cope with a fast-changing environment and multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong ability, knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office products.
  • Capable of working in partnership with others, able to successfully motivate, engage, and drive change initiatives to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Great numerical and analytical skills, with experience of collecting, organising and sharing information accurately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to manage, influence, leverage persuasion, and negotiation to build effective relationships.
  • A logical and data-driven approach to problem-solving, with the ability to make informed decisions by evaluating complex data and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • A passion for refining and optimising processes, constantly seeking ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely and effective delivery of mobility solutions.A strong focus on cost-efficiency, ensuring that services are delivered within budgetary limits while also identifying opportunities to outperform financial targets through smarter sourcing, supplier negotiations, and continuous process improvement.
  • Project management experience or managing end to end process reviews
Desirable
  • Experience and understanding of automotive telematic systems
  • Understanding of fleet management lifecycle including dealing with fines, DVLA, insurance, fleet Providers, and garage services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fleet management principles, including the lifecycle of owned, leased, and rented vehicles, as well as dealing with fleet providers, maintenance schedules, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of telematics systems and other technology solutions used to enhance fleet management and reporting.
  • Experienced fleet operator, managing owned, leased, and rented fleet across multiple sites.
