The Team

The Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) is a parliament-wide response to allegations of bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct in the parliamentary community. The team provides essential support to the operation of this important, high-profile service and its continued evolution.

The ICGS team is a bicameral service.

About the role

As the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme Director, you will be responsible for providing the ICGS team with outstanding, developmental leadership, ensuring that the Scheme undertakes fair, timely, rigorous and effective investigations and that its investigators produce high-quality reports.

With a remit to continuously improve the scheme, you will play an important role in retaining the trust and confidence of the parliamentary community through delivery excellence first and foremost, but also through substantial stakeholder liaison, including attendance at formal parliamentary committees and boards, and through high quality communications about the scheme.

What we are looking for

With experience of having developed workplace or investigation schemes in response to legislative or cultural change, you will bring a strong technical skill set to this role, with experience of overseeing investigations in similarly scrutinised environments.

With a public service value set that informs your approach to delivery and improvement, you will bring an understanding of the political and legal context in which both Houses work, an ability to identify and mitigate risk, and an awareness of evolving cultures and events that are shaping communities' expectations of conduct and working cultures.

The role requires the ability to operate at the most senior levels of public life and comes with a significant element of Parliamentary and public scrutiny and challenge. We are consequently seeking an individual who is a proven leader and effective communicator, who operates with independence, excellent judgement, and the utmost probity.
