My client in North-West London is currently hiring senior social workers for their Children and Young Adults with Disabilities Service.
Salary:
- £45,021 per annum, normally rising to £48,060 with annual increments.
- £5,000 Golden Hello payment (after 6 months).
- £2,500 annual retention payment every 12 months.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing the needs, strengths and wishes of children and young people with disabilities and their families and determining the appropriate level of intervention and service provision.
- Providing direct support and guidance to children and young people with disabilities and their families, helping them to make changes and solve problems, and promoting their wellbeing and independence.
- Working with colleagues from other disciplines, to coordinate and deliver the best possible services for children and young people with disabilities, in line with the SEND code of practice.
- Safeguarding children and young people with disabilities who may be at risk of harm or abuse and using relevant legal powers to protect their rights and welfare.
- Managing a more complex case load, including child protection and court work, and participating in planned work related to court orders.
- Reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness and outcomes of the services and support provided to service users and their families and making recommendations for improvement or change.
- Supporting the transition of children and young people with disabilities to adult services and ensuring continuity and consistency of care and support.
- Mentoring student social workers & ASYE social workers.
Requirements for the role:
- Degree or Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
- SWE registration.
- Completion of ASYE or equivalent.
- DBS or ability to pass DBS check.
- Experience working with children and young adults as a social worker.
- Experience using different techniques to enhance communication with disabled children and young people.
- Knowledge and practice of relevant legislation.
- Experience conducting mental capacity assessment.
- Knowledge of DoLS
