The Role:

We are seeking a proactive and engaging Climate Action Stakeholder Projects and Partnerships Officer to join our team. This role will support the City Workstream Manager to decarbonise the built environment and support the ambition of a net zero Square Mile by 2040.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and delivery of a portfolio of projects which accelerate the decarbonisation of the Square Mile, in line with the aims of the City’s Climate Action Strategy.
  • Enabling the effective management and implementation of interventions related to the Buildings Decarbonisation programme, Square Mile Local Area Energy Plan and Embodied Carbon Action Plan.
  • Facilitating and maintain the effective engagement of external stakeholders in the development and delivery of projects as well as formal partnership structures for the Square Mile.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow this portfolio through external funding and investment, working with external partners.
  • Writing specifications for the procurement of consultants for specific projects and support the management of consultant delivery teams.
  • Regularly report to the Square Mile Workstream Manager and the Climate Action Strategy Programme Office on the progress of implementation against the Square Mile Project Plan.
  • Developing and maintaining on-line platforms which share project results, guidance, case studies and insights.
  • Working with the Climate Action Strategy Stakeholder Engagement Lead to deliver a programme of events and workshops to share learning and progress.
  • Managing data collection processes to monitor and report Square Mile key performance indicators and contribute to the development of the Corporation’s open-access climate dashboard.
  • Actively seek to implement the City of London’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy in relation to the duties of the post, and at all times give due regard to the health and safety of both themselves and others when carrying out their duties.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about climate action and has the following qualifications and skills:

  • Degree level education or equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Significant experience in climate change projects and programmes in an urban context, working with a range of public and private bodies.
  • Good knowledge of key urban systems - in particular buildings, energy and materials – and an understanding of the enablers of change and decarbonisation in these areas.
  • Proven track record of working at pace to successfully deliver project objectives according to agreed timelines.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking the initiative to drive priorities forward.
  • Collaborative team player, with the ability to build relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentational skills, with the ability to present complex issues clearly and succinctly to senior audiences.
  • Well-rounded and demonstrable planning, project management and organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of current carbon accounting, GHG methodologies and reporting frameworks.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to write concise briefing reports and detailed correspondence to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to verbally advise stakeholders on technical and complex issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop excellent relationships.
  • Good research and analytical skills, with the ability to assimilate, evaluate and interpret data to make recommendations.
