Key Responsibilities To assess, diagnose, treat and discharge clients with acquired disorders of communication, demonstrating the use of evidence based practice. To manage in addition to the above, acquired disorders of swallowing (dysphagia) after achieving the required level of competence.
To organise, prioritise and appropriately manage your caseload within existing resources. To access support and advice from more experienced colleagues as appropriate. To provide advice and support to clients, families and careers e.g. the provision of information about other agencies.
To communicate with colleagues from Health, Social Services and voluntary agencies and maintain good working relationships with them. To provide appropriate and timely verbal and / or printed information to colleagues regarding Speech and Language Therapy interventions /outcomes in order to facilitate the holistic management of clients.
To work within a multi disciplinary, multi agency framework. To attend and contribute to staff meetings, both team and departmental. To demonstrate continuing professional development as required from the Trust, HCPC and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
To be aware of and act according to the principles of clinical governance. To participate in the training of carers and other professional colleagues as appropriate. To provide opportunities for observation to Speech and Language Therapy students and students from other disciplines.
To supervise Speech and Language Therapy students after gaining appropriate clinical experience. To provide, after gaining appropriate clinical experience, mentorship for new graduate Speech and Language Therapists. To undertake routine correspondence and report writing.

To collect and submit timely and accurate caseload data to the Trusts information system. To adhere to the core responsibilities of Speech and Language Therapists as defined by the Health Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
