To ensure medical records are filed in line with Information Governance procedures

  • Using the digital dictation system, type confidential referral letters from the Clinicians to Hospitals and other agencies
  • Responsible for ensuring that accurate work is completed within the time limits and standards set
  • Upload referral letters to various platforms (e-referrals) and send referrals via email and manage e-referral work lists daily
  • Maintain log of referral letters.
Type other general patient based letters and surgery documents as required
  • Resolve or signpost queries from patients, carers, internal departments and external agencies as appropriate
  • To ensure patient referrals are processed and to timely input, update, maintain information and resolve queries on the patient record
  • Liaise with the Medical Examiner and Coroner and associated administration
  • Provide typing and other administrative support to the Practice Manager/Assistant Practice Manager
  • Set up referral templates within the clinical database, and maintain and update standard letters and forms used in the Surgery
  • Liaise with Hospital and other agencies about referrals and appointments
  • Prepare medical insurance reports/medical records following the Practice Protocol agreed by the GP Partners
  • Dealing with patient queries over the telephone and in person
  • Other secretarial/admin support as required
