TWA, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham hospitals is a division of Manchester Foundation Trust and the Facilities staff employed provide an integral service to the smooth running of the Division. We are now looking for a Facilities Services Supervisor to work at Monet Lodge Intermediate Care Unit as part of our Withington division to help us to continue to deliver excellent support services to the Trust.

As a working Facilities Services Supervisor, you will lead a team of facilities assistants in providing essential and comprehensive cleaning and catering services to the site. You will also undertake essential cleaning and catering tasks to provide our patients with a safe and pleasant environment and meal service.

Main duties of the job

To oversee the day-to-day activity in the domestic, linen, and catering department, ensuring that
the service is delivered according to the service specification. To manage the allocation of existing staff and

resources to ensure the smooth running of the service.

To lead and co-ordinate the Facilities Services team at TWA hospitals and deliver a service through the Domestic, Catering, Linen and Portering Services team that meets the demands of the stakeholders and customers serviced by the Soft Facilities Management team based at the nominated site.

To co-ordinate and liaise with equivalent Facilities supervisors where necessary to provide an efficient and compliant overall Soft Facilities Management service.

To liaise with the clinical team to ensure that the facilities services support the clinical services.

The job entails working within a very busy department where no day is ever the same. If you are an organised, self-motivated, pro-active, problem solving individual then this is the post perfect for you. You will be responsible for the efficient day to day operation of the Domestic and Catering Service Team at Monet Lodge for the TWA Division in liaison with the wider Facilities and Clinical Teams.

The post is part time 25 hours per week and does involve working an early start of 7am on some days.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of cleaning processes.
  • Have a good knowledge of computers and able to send and receive emails, use Microsoft and Excel.
  • To understand and be able to carry out instructions to set specifications.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding and awareness of confidentiality.
  • Understanding of the National Standards of Cleanliness policy.

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Able to complete quality control documentation accurately and to a schedule.
  • Providing advice, instruction or training to groups where the subject matter is straightforward.
  • Able to plan staff deployment, including managing rotas and allocating leave, ensuring continuous cover, within budget restraints.
  • The ability to deal with complaints in line with Trust procedure.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good written and spoken English and the ability to do basic maths.
Desirable criteria
  • GCSE's to include maths and English or equivalent.
  • Customer care training/certificate.
  • Moving and handling training/certificate.
  • Basic food hygiene level 2 certificate.
  • Leadership/managing people training/certificate.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of Health & Safety.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience of working within a supervisory or management role.
