We have created an exciting new Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist post, using a successful model within our other Allied Health Professional (AHP) teams.

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who fits with this mission and our Trust values (safe, caring, excellent) to:
- Lead our team of Speech & Language therapists to provide excellent care to patients, develop their clinical skills and continued professional development and explore new ways of working within community settings.
You will have regular access to clinical supervision and line management, peer support and professional supervision. You will join the strong voice of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) within Oxford Health, working towards our dedicated AHP strategy.
Please Note: The ability to travel across the locality and Trust sites during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy. Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.
Main duties of the job- Working as part of a dedicated clinical team comprising speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietetic, psychology, social work, medical and nursing staff, offering assessment and therapy to adults with acquired communication, voice and swallowing impairments related to stroke.
- Leading the speech and language therapy team on OSRU, working collaboratively with speech and language therapists, speech and language therapy assistants and supporting with the speech and language therapy apprenticeship scheme.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We have a strong emphasis on team working and continuing professional development and we will welcome your involvement in projects, audit, staff training and contributions to service development including ongoing use of telehealth. You will be well supported and encouraged to fulfil your potential through regular supervision, attendance at relevant training courses and ongoing review of self-led yearly objectives.You will have opportunity to network with speech and language therapists across the whole stroke pathway of care in Oxfordshire.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
- HCPC Registered
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
- Achievement of Level C RCSLT dysphagia competencies
- Post Graduate Dysphagia Training
- Registered member of RCLST
- MSc or other recognised long post graduate course linked to specialism
- Leadership Qualification
- Evidence of training as clinical supervisor
- Evidence of successful completion of significant specialist post graduate training, equivalent to Master’s level
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience in neurological rehabilitation
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Evidence of stroke specialist experience
- Use of alternative and augmentative communication aids
Skills
Essential criteria- Evidence of high level of specialist knowledge/assessment, management and intervention skills as a result of experience/ CPD
- Demonstrates excellent written presentation skills
- Demonstrates well established knowledge of specialist SLT assessment tools relevant to the specialist client group
- Demonstrates well established knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to specialist client group.
- Demonstrates excellent Interpersonal Skills
- Evidence of MDT Working
- Experience of developing and delivering group therapy
- Experience of developing and delivering training to carers
- Experience of developing and delivering in-service training to MDT
