Yeovil - Data Engineer
Overview:
As a Data Engineer, you'll work with our state-of-the-art customer database and marketing technology infrastructure. Data is at the heart of our business, and we are fortunate to have a wealth of information for our extensive customer database.You'll be designing, implementing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines, playing a crucial role in enabling data-driven analytics and customer marketing. You'll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, implement data models, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Reporting to the Senior CRM & Data Operations Manager, you'll be part of a successful and experienced data engineering team. This role requires a strong data engineering, analytics, and customer marketing background.

Responsibilities:
- Design and Build Data Pipelines: Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
- Data Management: Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, such as automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
- Data Integration: Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various data sources.
- Collaboration: Work with stakeholders including data scientists, analysts, and other team members to support their data infrastructure needs.
- Data Quality: Ensure data is clean, reliable and readily available for analysis and reporting.
- Maintain data in line with GDPR obligations – housekeeping and deletion of data in line with data retention policy, reporting on user consumption.
- Create and maintain documentation to enable data governance.
- Management of the customer golden record including data and customer entity matching and single customer view.
- Build analytical schemas (bronze/silver/gold) with consideration for cost of computing and user experience.
- Build and manage APIs and micro-services, with an understanding of micro services architecture.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years Hands-on experience with big data tools and frameworks.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data pipeline tools like Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, or AWS Glue.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot data-related issues.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Knowledge of Dax, M, Power Query for Power BI tables and ingestion.
- Understanding of XML and J-Son data structures.
