Job overview
The Unified Communications Engineer is a member of the Technical Services team responsible for supporting the data and voice network infrastructure. You are expected to be skilled and experienced in advanced technologies to also support and maintain all operational activities of the network environment.The core technologies being: VoIP, WAN, LAN, security (NAC, firewalls etc.), Wi-Fi.
The post holder will report to the Unified Communications team leader and collaborate directly with other members within the team and technical services department.
Main duties of the job
The primary requirement is to focus on the day-to-day business as usual data and voice network infrastructure.
Responsible for completing all assigned tickets within the IT service management system in line with service level agreements and escalating any likely breaches.
Installation, configuration and support of infrastructure equipment.
Support capacity planning, ensuring sufficient resource exist to maintain access to systems in a highly available state.
Good technical knowledge within the Trusts IT Infrastructure with expertise within at least two of the areas listed:
Local and Wide Area Networking
Wireless LAN infrastructure
Voice communication systems
Cyber Security (NAC and firewalls)
Data cabling
Managing infrastructure updates and upgrades with minimal impact.
Work closely with the security team to deal with security related incidents.
Participate in regular on call rota.
Provide technical escalation point for other teams within CITS

Person specification
Experience
Essential criteria- Minimum of two years It and/or Unified Communications Experience gained in an enterprise environment
- Evidence of delivering IT solutions across multiple disciplines (LAN,WAN, VoIP, security and cabling)
- Good knowledge and experience of using Cisco technology solutions
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to HND level qualification or recognised IT qualifications and equivalent experience
- ITIL Foundation
- Evidence of continuing professional development pertaining to the post.
- Cisco
- Vendor certification relating to networking, voice and security
