Project Design Engineer - Lighting
Job Profile
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Design Engineer to join the project management and product development team for a lighting manufacturer based in North London. You'll contribute to the creation and delivery of innovative lighting solutions for some of the world's most prestigious architectural projects.

- The design, manufacture, testing and installation of LED-based architectural lighting systems using Solidworks.
- Design awareness with a strong appreciation for form and aesthetics
- Commercially astute, understanding design in context of cost and production
- Clear and confident communication skills; able to liaise effectively with our in-house assembly team, external contractors, lighting designers, and specifiers
- Sustainability-aware, with knowledge of environmentally responsible production methods
- Familiar with batch production techniques, especially for low- to medium-volume runs
- Good working knowledge of plastic and metal production methods, including rapid prototyping and finishing processes
- Solid understanding of mechanical and electronic systems, particularly in relation to LED lighting
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD
- On-site experience working alongside contractors to help resolve installation challenges is advantageous
- Interest in design automation and the use of AI in engineering is desirable
- While prior experience in LED lighting design is preferred, comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Salary dependent on experience (£30k-£40k)
