Teaching Assistant (SEN/SEMH) – Barnstaple

A highly respected group of SEMH/SEN schools is seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team at their Barnstaple site from January 2025 or sooner. This is a permanent, full-time role, offering the chance to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH/SEN in their learning and development
  • Assist teachers in delivering a tailored curriculum
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support, ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN/SEMH students, ideally in a school setting
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
