Slough Community Mental Health Service has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Secretary who wishes to join our dynamic and multi-disciplinary team.
Slough is the second largest town in Berkshire and is within the Greater London Urban Area. The A4, M4, M40 and M25 are all easily accessible making travel to and from very straightforward. Links to the centre of London are excellent with four trains an hour to Paddington, fast trains taking only 18 mins.
The post holder will support the effective operation of the CMHT and MHICS service, providing high quality organisational and administrative support. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside a range of professionals including doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, support workers, and our administration team.
Main duties of the job- The post holder will be required to work with minimal supervision to provide professional co- ordination and administration support. As a valued member of the team, the post holder will assist in the promotion of high-quality services whilst adhering to the Trust’s Core Standards and Values.
- The post holder will provide a comprehensive centralised administrative service which will involve liaising with clinicians and other external professionals as per need.
- The role is working Monday to Friday, office hours 0900-1700, at the Slough Horizon Office.

The “must haves” for this role:
- Be able to demonstrate ability to work positively as part of a team.
- Previous experience of Medical Secretarial skills.
- Previous work experience within a mental health service.
- Excellent communication skills both face to face and on the telephone with good interpersonal relationship skills.
- IT Literate and Microsoft Excel confident

Person specification
Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria- Evidence of training in data protection
- Educated to GCSE/O Level or NVQ2 standard or equivalent experience.
Previous Experience
Essential criteria- Be able to demonstrate ability to work positively as part of a team
- Medical Secretary (audio typing, T-Pro or advanced practice)
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria- IT Literate and Microsoft Excel confident
- Ability to organise/prioritise workload and work on own initiative
- Excellent communication skills both face to face and on the telephone with good interpersonal relationship skills
- Ability to arrange meetings, agenda and take minutes of meetings
- Be reliable with an excellent timekeeping and attendance record
Additional Requirements
Essential criteria- Flexibility
- To be comfortable and non-judgemental working in a Mental Health environment
- Physical ability to manage stairs whilst carrying small loads
- Understanding of diversity and equal opportunities
- Ability to work onsite in Slough Community Mental Health Service office work location
