An exciting opportunity for a band 3 N/A with assigned clinical and administrative responsibilities to join the Neurology Ambulatory Team.

This valued role will embrace a range of clinical, non- clinical and clerical tasks, working within the nurse led unit playing a vital key role.

Main duties of the job

If successful, the post holder will be one of the first contacts within the Neurology Ambulatory Care Unit (NACU), helping organise the logistics of the Unit both collaboratively and independently when required. They will also work alongside a variety of different neurological specialists; supporting and assisting them to manage a multitude of conditions through clinics and treatments.

This is a varied and interesting role where the use of initiative and teamwork is paramount.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Undertake all aspects of clerical duties inclusive of maintenance of computerised and manual record systems, booking appointments, filing and ordering of supplies for the unit and operating in a methodical and organised manner
  • Ideally the candidate should be confident and familiar with the use of Microsoft, Excel and all associated hospital computer systems such as iPortal and Careflow
  • The role will include some “hands on” patient care and involvement in many clinical procedures such as venepuncture, ECGs, recording of observations, urine microscopy and if the applicant doesn’t have the appropriate competences, the team will be able to provide training. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent patient care skills
  • Assist the team to maintain an appropriate safe, clean environment in line with Trust standards/protocols which will necessitate some minimal assisted patient hygiene care and assist fellow members of staff in promoting patient safety, dignity and comfort at all times

Essential criteria
  • Care certificate
  • Previous experience as HCA
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 3
  • Previous experience in acute hospital settings
