JOB PURPOSE The post holder will support and facilitate staff in clinical areas to identify opportunities for maintaining and improving standards of patient care. In liaison with the Assistant Director of Nursing, Matrons and Childrens Professional Development and Education Team, promote a quality service using research and evidence based practice including the setting, monitoring and auditing of clinical standards.
Work with the Childrens Professional Development and Education team to ensure that all non-medical professionals have the best learning experience possible Provide education and training to multidisciplinary team staff and assist in the delivery of training programmes for Trainee Nursing Associates, Nursing Associates, Student Nurses, Registered Nurses and other non-registered workforce to induct and develop their skills, knowledge and confidence.
The post holder will support and facilitate staff in clinical areas to identify opportunities for maintaining and improving standards of patient care. This will include working alongside any learner within the clinical environment to achieve competence and confidence.
Key requirements include: Providing in situ clinical support to appropriate staff groups to assist in achieving competencies and developing confidence in their roles. Provide Pastoral support to registered and non-registered learners to ensure wellbeing is supported.
To be accountable for a group of learners within the Practice Educators allocated area. Be accountable for the delegated responsibility for specific workstreams. Provide consistent contributions to the teams development projects and workstreams.

Evidence improved reflective practice via professional supervision systems. Key Responsibilities Understanding your role To plan and maximise opportunities to deliver work-based learning for non-medical registered and non-registered workforce.
Support the monitoring, recording and reporting of all learner activity. Maintain clinical competence in all aspects of learner needs, to be able to supervise and sign of competence. Be an innovative and creative practitioner to effectively use resources and technologies in our education programmes.
Work with minimum supervision and coordinate own and other staffs activities to ensure that efficient service is provided. Provide guidance and support to staff on personal and professional development, by promoting CPD and career opportunities.
Develop and maintain own knowledge and expertise of nursing practice to act as a resource for other staff. Participate and contribute to meetings within the organisation, relevant to portfolio and link educator subjects, providing feedback and action as necessary.

Act as a role model, promoting excellence of practice through education, leadership, supervision, advice and support and clinical skills teaching in clinical areas. Support the maintenance of up to date and accurate training records. As a member of the Childrens Professional Development and Education Team, support the development, maintenance and implementation of a competency based framework for all areas of clinical practice Be competent and expert in the safe and secure handling of medicines and supervise and assess junior staff learning these skills.

To be responsible for the management and organisation of own workload. Acknowledge any limitations in own knowledge and competency and decline any duties or responsibilities unless able to perform them in a safe a competent manner. Develop specialist knowledge and expertise of nursing practice to act as a resource for other staff.
Show an awareness of your own capabilities and area for improvement. Ensure attendance and completion of all mandatory study days of self and others. Provide guidance and support to staff on problems affecting their work Share knowledge, skills and experience and work collaboratively with colleagues.
Recognise and value the individuality of team members whilst displaying sensitivity to other feelings and needs. Participate in the induction and orientation programmes of all new staff members. Participate and contribute to meetings within the organisation, provide feedback and action as necessary.
Communication Communicate education and practice information across the Trust. Ensure communication channels are used appropriately to facilitate the flow of information. Help to share best practice relating to quality assurance and inter professional learning Demonstrate effective and efficient delivery of information.
Be able to motivate others. Service Improvement Inspire others to recognise the value of education which underpins and takes practice forward. Work in collaboration with clinical managers and senior nurses to support specific learner needs within the clinical environment.
Support and engage in other service improvement objectives to aid success. Manage the process of identifying areas of good practice, areas for improvement and improving standards of care. Including facilitating and promoting the sharing of good practice via clinical practice forums and other trust-wide and national forums.
Teaching and Learning Deliver education and training programmes to ensure that knowledge, skills and competencies of the professional and support staff meet the need of the service. Deliver presentations/ teaching sessions both internally and externally using a variety of methods to a variety of group sizes Maximise the opportunities that informal teaching sessions can offer and adopt a flexible and innovative approach to education delivery.
Deliver training packages to support our system partners in addition to the MYTT staff. Work in collaboration with divisional practice educators to ensure standards of education and training package are maintained. Create an environment to support inter and multi professional working and learning in practice.
Recognise, communicate and praise the achievements of the team and the individuals within team. Monitor and evaluate clinical standards, identify and develop action plans for education for areas of poor practice in conjunction with ward managers, to improve the delivery of patient care and experience.
To participate in audits and support wards managers in the development of action plans to support education arising from audit. Attend external events to promote career opportunities within MYTT. Management Provide line management responsibilities to Assistant Practice Educators when appropriate.
Act as a positive role model to peers and junior staff within the team and wider organisation, demonstrating trust values and behaviours at all times Be able to follow conduct, capability, and absence management pathways when appropriate. Provide revalidation support to direct reports and junior registrants where appropriate.

Conduct and lead appraisal for allocated staff, identifying development needs and ensure all staff have a Personal Development Plan.
