An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Support worker to join the successful Infant Feeding Team, within the Women and Children’s Division.
The ideal candidate should have infant feeding experience within a maternity setting , have a basic general education, and currently hold NVQ level 2 qualifications in Health care or the equivalent, have excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral and be committed to undertake relevant qualifications.
An education programme and mandatory training will be available for the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
As an Infant feeding clinical support worker you would be working primarily on the Maternity ward in a clinical setting.
Working alongside the midwifery team, you will be expected to provide evidence based knowledge and information for all aspects of infant feeding and act as a resource and support for mothers and midwifery staff in the initiation, establishment and development (maintenance) of breast feeding, and artificial feeding.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.
As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £16 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
Essential criteria- NVQ Level 2 in Care, or equivalent appropriate experience and commit to undertaking and completing NVQ Level 2 in Care, within 18 months of commencement in post

Essential criteria- An inherent interest and developing knowledge of infant feeding and its practicalities.
- To ensure clinical practice is based on current knowledge and updated through research and the introduction of new initiatives.
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria- Warm, empathic, supportive and an approachable personality. Communicate formally on first contact and deal with everyone in a polite, friendly and welcoming manner
- Excellent communication skills particularly listening to women’s needs pertaining to infant feeding. Ensure all communications are open, honest and accurate.
- Value people’s time and protect it as much as possible, listen to what people say and take appropriate action. Good communication skills (verbal and written) pertaining to liaison with nursing, midwifery, medical and multi disciplines
- Evidence of being a team player. To be flexible to respond to change and organisational needs
- Make an environment friendly and safe for all
Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria
Should this vacancy be recruited as an apprenticeship, the following criteria will apply:

The amount would vary depending on the level required: Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation).This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
