If you have an interest in working in a laboratory setting, this is an ideal opportunity for you to take on a supporting role as part of our small admin team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust Histopathology Department.

You will need to be organised, flexible and a good team player who is able to work in a high pressured environment.

Main duties of the job

The role includes:

  • Audio typing
  • Data entry
  • Answering telephone enquires
  • Sending away and receiving laboratory material
  • Filing

If you’ve worked within a similar environment that's great. If not, don't worry as full training will be provided. You will however need to have an interest in working within this environment, have a good eye for detail and following procedures.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Has GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • RSA III typing or audio typing skills
  • knowledge of medical terminology

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Accurate word processing and spelling skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Able to work as part of a team and alone
  • Has good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Organise, maintain and monitor Consultant diaries as necessary producing an effective and efficient record of meetings, appointments and inquests

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clerical/office administration experience preferably within a health care environment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of data entry

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.

If this job requires you to have DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment, you will be required to replay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed in instalments from your salary.
