The role:

We seek an experienced English teacher who is passionate about the subject and about learning, to take on the exciting role of Head of Languages and Literature Faculty in the secondary phase of our all-through school. The successful candidate will have high expectations of students and staff, be ambitious for their students and be able to collaboratively lead a team of subject specialists.
You will have the knowledge and energy to inspire students by developing high quality curricula, teaching and learning. The post would suit an existing Head of English or a leader within an English Department who is ready to broaden their experience.

We would be very happy to discuss the role and show you our school so please do get in touch if you are considering applying.

The Head of Languages and Literature Faculty leads the teaching of English and Modern Foreign Languages in our Senior School. The post-holder will be supported by an Assistant Head of Faculty who is a specialist in MFL, and a KS3 English Lead.
Applications are welcomed from excellent classroom practitioners who have a keen interest in developing evidence-informed pedagogical and curricular practice and who have experience of leadership. The successful candidate will teach English to GCSE.

There is no requirement to teach a Modern Foreign Language.

Our Languages and Literature Faculty is a collaborative and positive team who aim to provide the best education for all of our students. Outcomes for students are good in English and improving in MFL - we are looking for someone who is able to drive improvement so that studentsandrsquo; achievement is exceptional.

As we are an all-through school, the role also provides the opportunity to work closely with our Junior School English Lead to deliver excellent progression across the phases.

All our Heads of Faculty hold a whole Senior School responsibility andndash; the Head of Languages and Literature Faculty leads on whole school literacy and oracy in the secondary phase. We have a fantastic library (and librarian!) but want to build a culture where literacy and oracy are embedded in all of our secondary classrooms.

We are also looking for a colleague who can contribute to the wider life of the school, through extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits. We can offer the successful candidate support in accessing and completing NPQs or other leadership qualifications.

Our mission is to educate the whole child, developing leadership, compassion, character and academic ambition, through the combination of our Academic and Concordia Crescimus curricula. We have high expectations and aspirations for every member of our school community.

Polam Hall is a community where staff and students work together for common goals. We make every effort to develop our staff team, offering professional development opportunities and the chance to be part of a wider Trust, yet retaining the friendly atmosphere of a small school.

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to join our team, who have children at the heart of their practice and who will help us to drive forward our aim: to deliver an outstanding education to every single one of our pupils.
