A fantastic leadership opportunity has arisen to drive forward nursing, midwifery and allied health professional education and training for nursing, midwifery and AHPs (NMAHP) at Barts Health. Reporting to the Education Academy Managing Director, you will be the director lead to ensure NMAHP regulatory standards are met and for the effective delivery of the NHS Education Contract with NHS England.

With a team of over 60 staff, we are seeking a compassionate and inclusive strategic leader to provide expert advice and guidance to the Trust on nursing, midwifery and AHP education, and to ensure this is fully integrated with future hospital-based models of care and education strategies.

Main duties of the job

You will have highly sophisticated partnering and customer care skills to forge close working relationships with group-level and hospital-based director teams, and external stakeholders and HEI partners. This will include providing expert educational delivery and professional knowledge of complex educational funding and pathways of care to non-clinical colleagues.

Forward thinking and innovative, the post holder will work closely with the Group Chief Nursing Officer and her team on planned changes to nursing, midwifery and AHP education, including workforce transformation, new funding and regulatory requirements and the implications for patient-centred care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role also has lead responsibility for the delivery and quality assurance of a portfolio of high-quality education and training for the clinical non -registered workforce, allied health professionals and health care support workers.

In addition, the role also has responsibility for the operational delivery of Resuscitation and Manual Handling services in the Trust.

As a senior leader in the Academy you will play an integral role in setting the strategic direction and overall leadership for the Education Academy.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant track record of senior level management experience gained in a complex acute hospital setting
  • Experience in liaison and negotiation at organisational level internally as well as externally, with a range of stakeholders
  • Evidence of leading and involvement in research and audit programmes to inform educational programmes and workforce development
  • Evidence of strategy development and delivery of business planning to achieve strategic aims

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a team of people working on complex projects to achieve a single goal
  • Experience of managing complex change projects
  • Experience of developing business cases for strategic workforce investment
  • An understanding of the principles of procurement and contract negotiations and management of contracts.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness and experience of key NHS service strategy, modernisation, planning and delivery processes as these relate to commissioning and delivery of Education

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Healthcare Professional in no-medical profession
  • Masters Level Qualification or evidence of working towards

  • Project management
