Individual needs teaching assistant
Contract: Maternity cover starting 29 August 2025 until 31 August 2026. Term-time only, plus 10 days.
- Hours: Full-time or part-time hours available. Please state in your application the hours that you would consider.
- Salary: GSAL points 17-18, £26,187-£26,730 full-time equivalent. Actual salary payable dependent on hours worked. Exemplar salary based on GSAL point 17, 30 hours per week, term-time only plus 10 days £17,301.51 per annum.

As an individual needs teaching assistant, you will support students with individual needs and disabilities through personalised and group instruction, using effective strategies and assistive technology to enhance learning. You'll develop and deliver tailored interventions, record progress, and provide valuable feedback to teaching colleagues.
Your role includes analysing data to identify students needing support, assisting with assessments and exam arrangements, and facilitating smooth transitions within the school. Building strong relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and external agencies is key, along with maintaining high expectations for student progress and behaviour.You'll also participate in departmental administration, professional development, and school activities, contributing to the overall success of the school.
You will have English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent grade C or above, and at least NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent or a willingness to work towards. Experience of working with children is essential, along with knowledge of the needs of students with IN and disabilities and the challenges they face.Experience of working with primary school aged children, together with a background working with individuals with speech and language difficulties would be advantageous.
