This role is to support a Man
Drivers licence required: Yes
Own vehicle needed: Yes
Employment status: Self-employed
Hours per week: 10 - hours to be used flexibly.

Hourly pay rate: Please apply with your usual self-employed hourly rate

I am a 54-year-old man with complex health and mental health needs.
I would describe myself as a quiet person. I enjoy yoga and reading and when my
health permits walking and writing poems. I used to be interested in music, drawing, and sports, such as running, martial arts, and working out at the gym. I
worked as a fitness instructor many years ago, until my physical health
deteriorated. I am a very tidy and organised person. I have several medical
problems along with some health issues which are currently being investigated. PA

will support me to live independently and proactively to maintain my overall wellbeing.

I am looking for a PA to work approximately 10 hours per week, broken down as
follows –
2 x 2-hour sessions to support with solving housing, benefits and day-to-day
difficulties by problem-solving with me and carrying out admin tasks, making
phone calls, and sending emails on my behalf.
  1. 3 hours to support with housework and gardening. I like a thorough

cleaning done once a week, in which the furniture will be moved to clean

under the furniture. I have a small garden and would like help cutting the

grass.

The above hours can be set as part of a weekly arrangement. Due to medical
appointments shift times may be subject to chase, so a degree of flexibility is
important.
  1. 4 hours to be used flexibly to support appointments. Some appointments
will be known in advance, and for some, there will be 24 hours notice.

Time to be social and go out and have a coffee together.

This is a rough guide and the hours would be dependent on what is happening for
me in any given week. I would like a PA to have the scope to be able to carry over
hours from one week to another. For example if I have a medical appointment to

work 8 hours one week, carry over 2 hours and work 12 the following week.

Duties include:

Medication prompting/administering
Other relevant duties as required
Administration
Housekeeping
Shopping
Cooking
Transportation
Companionship

Gardening

Candidate qualities: Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality

Reliable with good timekeeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Honest and cheerful
Creative
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

To be relaxed, chatty and easy-going.

To know and understand the struggles of mental health, as sometimes I can
present low or stressed and other times stable and sociable.
Good communication skills, so that the person can help me calm down and
when on shift, talk through my worries and help problem solve with me, would

be useful.

Confidence to assist and help me when I am struggling with communication
difficulties. I can often be misconstrued and misunderstood, when I am
stressed, I say things I do not mean. It would be useful to have someone
there to be able to encourage me and help me phrase the sentences when I

am speaking to professionals.

Good written skills and familiar with benefits forms

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working

hours, Vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission
