A fantastic opportunity for an HSE Officer to join a well-established, specialist business driving innovation through extreme engineering and advanced materials technology. The Health, Safety and Environment Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety within the organisation.

The Health, Safety and Environment Officer will report to the Head of Operations. This position will collaborate closely with colleagues, department managers, and employees across all levels of the organisation to develop and maintain the company's health, safety and environmental requirements and objectives.

The Role:

Responsibilities will include various tasks related to Health, Safety and the Environment, such as policies and procedures, audits, investigations into incidents, near misses and hazards and coordination of training.

Duties of the HSE Officer:

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with government and standards regulations ensuring strict adherence throughout the business and manage a robust review mechanism.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures to minimise future occurrences.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate reporting to regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with teams/management to develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation drills and crisis management protocols.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders on matters related to health, safety, and environmental compliance and reporting.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to health, safety, and environmental management.

Candidate Requirements:

  • At least 3 years in a similar role within the manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite would be an advantage
